Botanical Information: It is a family of wheat. It is an annual herbaceous plant and it can be between 1.5 and 3 meters in length according to the region where it is grown. The leaves are tapered to the tip, with a long thin spear. The edges of the leaves are all wavy and greyish white. Male and female flowers stand separately, but they are the same plant. The female flowers are tassels that come out of the stub. It is called corn cob for a short time and 100-200 cans of corn seeds are arranged on this husband. Cultivated Corn: The homeland of it is South America and Egypt and it was brought to Europe by seafarers after the discovery of the Americas. From there, it is believed that this plant is called corn in our language since it is brought from Africa mainland to our country via Egypt. Turkey's climate is well suited for corn, therefore, it is grown over a wide area .Collecting - Storage: Ripening corn cobs are collected and dried, resulting in starch or oil. Corn tufts are collected in June or July, dried in the shade and stored in special closed containers. Known Composition: The grains of the corn plant contain highly starch and unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin A and sterols. The maize tassel used as a medicine includes substances such as glucose, maltose, sterols, resin, potassium salts and essential oil. Uses: Corn oil obtained from corn grains, as a liquid vegetable edible oil, is known to prevent hardening of the arteries. Besides, corn grains are used in feed industry because of their nutritive value. Flour is obtained from the grains. Even today its use is becoming widespread. Benefits: It is effective in the treatment of urethritis (urinary tract infection), cystitis (bladder infection) and prostatitis (prostate gland infection) Helps to overcome kidney problems in children. It's a diuretic, lowers bladder stones. The body of the corn is a strengthening tonic, soothing. It helps in the treatment of rheumatism.
